BIOGRAPHY

Ivan Nebesnyy was born in 1971 in Ternopil, Ukraine.
From 1990 till 1995 he attended course of Composition at Myroslav Skoryk’s class in The Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy (Ukraine).
In 1998 he finished a post-graduate studying at the same institution.
In 1997 he won a Kulturkontakt Austria scholarship to participate in the Fifth International Academy for New Composition, where he has been training with Boguslav Schaeffer (Poland-Austria) in Composition and with Marek Choloniewski (Poland) in electronic music.

In 1996 Ivan Nebesnyy founded an ensemble of contemporary academic music – CLUSTER (Lviv, Ukraine). Since the time of establishment, Cluster has performed in different countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania.
As the director of the Cluster-ensemble Ivan Nebesnyy organized in Ukraine first music performances of composers from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, USA, Poland, Czech Rep., Canada, Japan.

In 2006 – 2012 Ivan Nebesnyy was working as a director of the “Kyiv Music Fest”, an annual international contemporary music festival (Kyiv, Ukraine).

Ivan Nebesnyy is a winner of the Composers’ Competition as part of the International Youth Music Forum in Kyiv (Ukraine, 1996).

Laureate of the Theatrical Prize ”Kyiv Pectoral” (Ukraine, 2011), Laureate of the Boris Lyatoshinsky National Prize (Ukraine, 2020), Laureate of the Theatrical Prize ”GRA” (Ukraine, 2021).

His works have been performed in numerous music events in Austria, Algeria, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Rep., England, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Türkiye, USA, Russia and Ukraine.

Ivan Nebesnyy is a composer of the Ukrainian new generation, who is trying to compensate the isolation of his predecessors, and applying the experience of European post-avantgarde composers into his works. His main specialization is music for symphony orchestra, chamber music, music for theatre, film soundtracks, multimedia projects.
